ASSASSIN

ASSASSIN
on the night prior
the night i died
i barricaded my citadel
and reinforced my fortress
i built a strong wall
hour upon the hour
to surround mine tower
on that night

it was serene,not a sound
no youth did maraud
i slept safe and sound
as does so few
until the morn broke a new
on the day i died

who let you into my house?
i didn't hear you break
nor the dog untimely bark
but what did it matter
there i lay injured
wondering what you were
what did the ether conjure?

before my last blink
your face my only link
soft as a petal methinks
assassin trained in lethality
though i felt the cold metal in my
lung,
that i knew was cold steel
its warm glow said it was made of
love
forged mine heart to steal
